Many thanks to the Hedley Foundation who have donated £720.00 to the club to purchase hand/foot – eye coordination and sensory equipment.

Summer Display

On 20th May we held our annual summer display. We saw nearly 700 spectators throughout the day and over 300 children took part.

All sections of this club took part having worked for weeks with their coaches to put together some fantastic routines to music. Lots of fun was had by all as we hosted a raffle, cake sale and lots of other competitions and stalls. We raised just under £5000 towards club funds, well done everyone!

New Coaches!

Massive congratulations to two of our younger coaches Cherrie and Dianne who passed their UKCC Level 1 General Gymnastics Coach exam last week. It takes a lot of practical and paperwork to achieve this and we are very proud.

Lots of thanks also to gymnasts Kyrah, Savannah, Maya, Erin & Hallie for giving up their Sunday afternoon to attend the practical exam xxx

Regional Grades Part 2

It was a pleasure to take these girls to Regional grades today. Every gymnast showed great focus and beautiful gymnastics and they all achieved a commendation or distinction.

Many congratulations to Issy who received a rosette for 4th place and Abi who placed 2nd and got a lovely silver medal in the Grade 6 out of age competition. We would also like to say very well done to Evie for placing 3rd and Issy for placing 2nd in the Grade 5 out of age competition and winning two more lovely medals.

Huge congratulations to all our gymnasts who competed today, we are very proud of you all.

Regional Grades 2017

Well done to Susie today for passing Regional grade 3 with a commendation. Susie only had one fall at the beginning on bars which she dealt with well and went on to have a good competition with a beautiful range and conditioning and an epic vault. Good work Susie !

Charitable Status for EGC.

Erdington Gym Club is now a registered Charity.  We are recognised as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.  This is an important step to provide access to gymnastics to many more children and young people.

George Finney Competition Success

On March 12th, we attended the George Finney Regional Floor and Vault Competition in Stoke.

We took 61 of our gymnasts to what we knew would be a tough competition… we were spoiled all last year with medals in nearly every age category… we knew this year would be tough with many new gymnasts and lots moving up into the next age category. We are so proud of the achievements of all of our gymnasts, the courage it takes to stand up in front of such a huge crowd is something many of us would struggle to achieve.

Special mentions go to Sofronia and Amaya who performed fantastic long vaults not long after achieving them and only come to gym once a week. To Gracie who got over her mental block to perform a brilliant handspring to lots of cheers from the crowd and to Chloe who was our only under 15 in the competition who competed as an individual and performed a long vault over a vault bigger than most of our gymnasts and won a medal!

Our medalists of the day were:

Adv under 9s: Silver Team Medal
Louisa Powers: Ind Silver Medal
Chloe Bryant: Ind Silver Medal
Ellis Fowler: Ind Bronze Medal
Int Under 13s: Team Gold (First time we have won this age group)

Well done everyone xxxx

Christmas Disco

A fantastic night of dancing games and fun was had by our children at their Christmas Disco.  120 children attended from across the different classes and a wonderful time was had by all.  Lots of photographs can be found on our members facebook page, so check them out.

Christmas Competition Fun

On Saturday 10th December we repeated the success of last year’s Christmas Competition.  It was so lovely to see so many beautiful routines from our sixty minute children who performed to nearly 200 spectators.

The children performed 2 vaults and a floor routine and were awarded marks for neatness and well executed skills.

It is lovely to see how the children progress from year to year, and how much our new members have learned since joining us.  Well done everyone!
